The second novel in the Strange Angels series picks up with Dru neatly tucked away in a Schola that's more like a prison than a secret training facility. Except for one tiny detail: she's the only girl in the place and is surrounded by tons of cute boys. But a traitor in the Order wants Dru dead and she can't trust anyone except for Graves.

Dru grew up hunting vampires. Now she's discovered she is part vampire herself. As a "djamphir," she will be deadly to evil vampires, or "nosferatus." Until then, she is in a schola, a safe haven for teens who are djamphir or "werewulfen." There are problems enough in being the only girl in the schola, and to complicate things further, one of her classmates is trying to murder her. Alyssa Bresnahan narrates in an appropriately weary voice that turns quavery when Dru is upset and petulant when she's angry. The many teenage boys surrounding Dru sound similar, but all of the adult characters are distinct, and Bresnahan puts plenty of energy into the action scenes. G.D.
