Alexandra Cooper, Manhattan's top sex crimes prosecutor, awakens one morning to shocking news: a tabloid headline announcing her own violent murder. Confused and horrified, Alex discovers that the actual victim was Isabella Lascar, a Hollywood film actress who was staying at Alex's Martha's Vineyard retreat. This only raises more questions: was Isabella slain by a stalker or was Alex herself the intended target?
In an investigation that twists from the alleys of lower Manhattan to the chic boutiques of the Upper East Side, Alex has to get inside the killer's head before the killer gets to her. "With riveting authenticity" (Vanity Fair), Final Jeopardy is a fast-paced and explosive thriller that only Linda Fairstein could write.

Barbara Rosenblat's renowned expertise with accents comes to the fore in this New York City crime drama as she seamlessly transitions among dozens of characters. When a film star is murdered outside New York Assistant District Attorney Alexandra Cooper's island getaway, local police initially think the ADA is the victim. Despite orders to stay away from the investigation, Alex must find the killer. Rosenblat shows equal proficiency with the dialogue of a black downtown vice cop, a psychotic Israeli immigrant, a Brooklyn detective, and a room full of upper crust sycophants. Both major and minor characters receive the same spirited performance from the queen of audio. Narrative passages race along like turning pages after midnight. R.P.L. Barbara Rosenblat portrays the personal nightmare faced by Manhattan Assistant D.A. Alexandra Cooper when her close friend is found murdered in Cooper's own island getaway on Martha's Vineyard. Rosenblat offers varying accents for Cooper's associates--from Vineyard folk to New York cops, cabbies, judges, detectives, writers, and sex-crime defendants. Rosenblat has way too good a time with the barely controlled fury in Cooper's voice when she discovers the infidelity of her beau and his possible relationship with the murder victim. Her portrayal of a New York cop doing a Columbo impression is especially fun, as well. As the story moves from human frailties to suspense to humor, Rosenblat's voice deftly shifts gears. D.P.D.
