Gavin de Becker, author of the bestseller The Gift of Fear, is America's foremost authority on managing violent behavior. In this time of great anxiety and uncertainty, his guidance is needed more than ever.
De Becker addresses the concerns many have raised since the terrifying events of September 11, 2001. Is air travel safe? Are we at risk of chemical or biological weapons attacks? Can further acts be prevented by our government and military?
How should parents discuss these concerns with their children? These and other vital questions are answered with the expertise only de Becker can bring to the table.
A reassuring, empowering guide, Fear Less offers specific recommendations for improving the security of our nation—and ourselves.

Tom Stechschulte's narration captures the tone of FEAR LESS perfectly. Confident and friendly, he sounds reassuring and personal even when discussing the terrifying disasters of the past year. De Becker often uses extended sentences with a marked periodic rhythm; Stechschulte brings these rhythms to life. His voice carries readers along with him and underscores the message that we can relax, so long as we understand the nature of the challenges that face us. When de Becker is actually explaining current threats and possible responses, the text is exceptionally valuable. However, FEAR LESS is wordy, spending too much time previewing the insights offered or debunking easy targets like network news coverage. G.T.B. (c) AudioFile 2002, Portland, Maine
